Spiriferida, gen. indet.

A spiriferid brachiopod, recognisable by the pronounced fold running down one valve and the matching furrow, or sulcus, in the other.

The animal lived anchored to the sea floor, drawing a current in at the sides of the shell and out at the front, straining food particles from it. In the Permian of the Sydney Basin the common spiriferids are Trigonotreta and Tomiopsis.
