Stenopora sp.

A colonial filter-feeding animal, superficially coral-like but belonging to an entirely separate phylum. Each of the fine tubes covering the surface held one zooid, an individual perhaps a millimetre across that fed using a crown of ciliated tentacles.

Stenopora is one of the most abundant fossils in the marine Permian of eastern Australia and forms thick encrusting or branching masses in the shellbeds of the Sydney Basin.
